Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Kaivos collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Kaivos is an AI accountability mentor delivered over text message. By using the service you agree to this policy and our Terms.

1. What we collect

Account. When you sign up with Google we receive your name and email address. We do not post anything or access your contacts.

Phone number. The number you link so Kaivos can text you.

Messages. The content of the texts you exchange with Kaivos, and a memory the service builds from them to personalize your mentorship.

Billing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and card metadata (brand, last four, expiry) — never your full card number.

Usage & attribution. Analytics events (pages viewed, funnel steps), and the marketing source you arrived from (UTM / referral tags), plus your IP address and device/user-agent at sign-up for consent and fraud-prevention records.

2. How we use it

To provide and personalize the service (including the memory that makes Kaivos continuous), send the daily mentorship texts you consented to, process billing, keep the service safe and secure, measure and improve the product, and comply with law. We use AI models to generate your messages — see Section 5.

3. Testimonials

If — and only if — you explicitly agree in a conversation, we may display a short quote from what you told Kaivos, attributed to your first name only, on our public marketing pages. This is opt-in, never automatic; you can withdraw it anytime by emailing privacy@kaivos.app.

4. Text messaging

You consent to recurring automated texts at sign-up. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of messages or HELP for help. Carriers may process message metadata to deliver texts; SMS is not end-to-end encrypted through all carriers, so don’t send sensitive financial or health information.

5. Who we share with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run Kaivos, under contract:

6. Cookies & analytics

We use first-party storage and analytics (PostHog) to understand how the funnel performs and to remember your session. You can limit cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.

7. Retention

We keep your account and message data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for a reasonable period for legal, billing, and dispute-resolution purposes. You can request deletion at any time (Section 8).

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of it — which we do not do. To exercise any right, email privacy@kaivos.app from your account email and we’ll verify and respond. You can also stop texts anytime by replying STOP and cancel billing from your account.

9. Security & children

We protect your data with industry-standard measures, though no system is perfectly secure. Kaivos is for adults 18 and older; we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we’ll delete it if we learn we have.
